Product Review Coffee Makers

I'm a coffee alcoholic, if there is such a term, especially on the weekends, I love sitting down with my paper and drinking several cups of coffee, but I found that making it by the pot, I would drink one, or several pots of coffee, which was way too much caffeine for my system, so I started researching individual coffee makers, and I purchased a Keurig B60. I have had the coffee maker for over a year so I feel I can give a unbiased product review, based on the machines strong and weak points.

The B60 gives you the option of using Keurig's individual k-cups, which you can buy at your local Sam's Club, BJ's, or Cosco. Keurig also has a metal filter with a adapter for using your own ground coffee. I purchased one of these, and recommend it highly, as while the k-cups make a excellent cup of coffee, they are expensive, unless you find them on sale. The B60 gives you the choice of making a small, medium, or large cup/mug of coffee, you can also use the filter to make tea, or to get a cup of hot water if you want to use a tea bag. I found that I had to clean the unit thoroughly between cups of coffee and tea, otherwise the tea drinkers in our family would wind up with coffee grounds in their tea. One of the things that I don't like about the unit is trying to clean the housing where the k-cups or the coffee adapter goes is very difficult. the housing does not come off, and the best way the I found to get coffee grounds out of it was too use a can of canned air to blow them out, once they dried

When you first power up the B60 it takes about 1-2 min to heat up the water that is in the external tank. After I make my first cup it takes my unit 30-45 seconds to reheat for the next cup. The water tank has a wide mouth at the top, with a removable cover, you can easily refill it using a cup or a small pitcher, or remove it for  filling at the sink. One important cleaning point that I discovered with my B60 is that I found if I do not empty the water tank and turn it upside down on a paper, or a cloth towel, mold starts to grow on the sides of the tank, from the constant heating and cooling of the water.

In all I feel that the plus's of this unit far outweigh the few minus's I hardly use my coffee pot anymore, ever when we have friends and family over.
