Pluses And Minuses Of Both Filtered As Well As Filterless Humidifiers

Humidity is defined as the amount of moisture in the air. Low humidity levels occur when the air is very dry. Winter houses with dry forms of heat tend to lower the humidity. This causes respiratory problems such as the common cold, sinus, asthma and allergies. You'll also notice that your skin is dry and itchy, your lips become chapped easier, and you are thirstier than usual.

As low humidity affects the health of the individual, it is important to have a humidifier. These days you won't find too many homes without humidifiers.

When choosing a humidifier, the most important component is the filter. There are basically two types of humidifiers on the market - filtered and filterless humidifier.

Filters help block dirt and mineral deposits from entering the air or clogging up the humidifiers heating core.

The first and the biggest disadvantage is that the filters must be changed.

Secondly, these humidifiers can lull you into allowing it to become un hygienic. You'll find that although this kind of humidifier doesn't need to be cleaned on a daily basis, its filter can get very dirty over time. Unchanged filters can breed disease and illness.

The third disadvantage is the cost of changing filters. After a full year of buying replacement filters, you'll end up paying twice as much as you originally paid for the humidifier.

A filtered humidifier accomplishes the same task as the filtered one, but it doesn't need a filter. They use a grid which has an electrostatic charge to stop the dust particles.

The first advantage of a filterless humidifier is that it does not need replacement filters. It is also worth noting that this type of humidifier is not nearly as loud.

One of the big disadvantages of this kind of humidifier is that filterless humidifiers need to be cleaned more often than ones without a filter. These humidifiers get dirty quickly and if not cleaned, they will become hazardous to your health. You may also find that the filterless humidifier is a little pricier than its filtered cousin.
A filterless humidifier is not suitable for the lazy and busy as cleaning this humidifier can be a chore. A filtered humidifier is a better choice as cleaning is a breeze, and it is cost effective in the longer term.

As you have seen, buying a humidifier for your household is critical. Be it a filtered humidifier or a filterless humidifier you will be doing yourself a favor by buying one.
