I've had a few questions (which I thank my readers very much), about how often to feed the fish, in your aquarium. I can tell you how I feed my fish, after being in this hobby 30+ years, but you can adapt your feeding schedule, based on how your fish, respond to meal time.
I feed my fish in the morning, and my bottom feeding catfish at night. I take a small amount of flakes, and grind them into a fine powder, with my thumb and finger. This makes the food easier to eat, and I find it does not sink to the bottom as fast. At night when it's lights out I drop 1-2 algae wafers, in for my cat fish. I fast my fish one day a week, the pet food that you feed your fish is very rich, compared to what they would find in the wild. It does not take much to fill them up.
If I find that my catfish are not eating all the wafers I will cut back to one or one and a half. If your fish are gobbling up what you give them, in a matter of seconds, increase the amount slightly. If they are living food floating at the top, cut back a little.
I use Tetra fish flakes, they have worked best for my fish, in all the years, that I have had an aquarium, but there are almost as many varieties of food as they are fish, all you need to do is experiment, to fine the food that your fish prefer.
