Orbit 18-Hole 3,600 Square Foot Metal Oscillating Sprinkler

I never thought that I would be writing a review on a sprinkler, once upon a time for those of use who are 40+, this was a "no brainer" type of purchase. Sprinklers were all metal, tough, durable products, that our dad's brought once, and never had to think about replacing. You just had to remember not to leave it outside if it was going to rain, or it would rust. Then, like with a lot of other items, plastic replaced the metal on sprinklers, yes this made them less expensive, but the product quality also became cheap. Anyone remember looking around your yard for what I call "the watering rock?" You know that flat, heavy stone that would keep your sprinkler from tipping over, but had to have just the right shape, so as to not interfere with the movement of the sprinkler?

This orbit model is at least a step in the right direction, the base is all metal, so you don't have to worry about it tipping over, the sides are metal, maybe there is plastic underneath, but this model is at least durable. It's quite, and there is not any water leakage around the "arm" that move back and forth. I would only giving it four stars, because the end where the house attaches is not a great design. On mine, it is a bit of a struggle to get the house on and off, but the price is very good and I think this will a hold up for at lease more than one, or two seasons, which has been my track record, with the last three sprinklers that I brought. Here is a link in case your are in need of a new sprinkler
