IC LED light, which is designed with driving IC (microcontroller) integrated, is different from normal LED strip, each of its pixels is controlled via an IC. It is smarter than normal strip whose all LED chips are controlled together. Various types of IC LED light are available with different ICs integrated. To control a digital IC light, first make sure the pixel controller you choose shall support the IC inside the light. Generally a pixel controller can support many types of IC, thus it can control different types of light.
A controller may have 512 DMX decoding channels or more, which enables it to address 170 RGB or 128 RGBW pixels or more individually. Each RGB pixel needs 3 channels and RGBW needs 4 to decode. As a smart controller, it is configurable to control a desired quantity of pixel. All pixels can also be addressed simultaneously with 3 or 4 DMX channels. A DMX console is required to input signal to the LED controller. Generally the IC strip lights in the market are powered by 5VDC or 12-24VDC. So the controller shall be connected with a corresponding power supply.
Complicated color sequences including chasing, changing, sequencing and static colors can be created by the smart controller since each pixel can be addressed individually. These effects are perfect for decorative or façade lighting. For holiday seasons, it is great to use this controller to create stunning effects for your Christmas lights. There are two ways to create color sequences: first is the built-in sequences, second is sequences programmed by DMX consoles.
There are LED pixel controllers which can also be controlled by wireless signal such as RF/WiFi besides DMX, which means you can control them with remote or smart phone. You just have to pair it to the remote or connect your smart phone WLAN with the controller network. Then it is controllable by the remote or APP installed on your phone.
